House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement on today’s unemployment report for the month of February from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
“The unemployment numbers released today are good news for those few who found work in February but for millions of Americans around the country, the unemployment rate is still far too high at 8.3 percent. The American people are tired of their government standing in the way of new opportunities for job creation and economic growth. As gasoline prices rise, the Democrat controlled Senate has continues to ignore the House passed, bipartisan American energy plan that will create over a million jobs, contribute billions to the general treasury, jumpstart local economies, lower gasoline prices and make America more energy secure. Commonsense measures like this bipartisan America energy production plan or the recently passed bipartisan JOBS Act are going to put people back to work, not government spending and higher taxes like President Obama continues to propose.” ### |
