Committee Advances Slate of Federal Lands, Tribal Bills


WASHINGTON, D.C., July 11, 2018 -

Today, the House Committee on Natural Resources passed six bills including H.R. 6302 (Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Mich.), H.R. 1482 (Rep. Michael Simpson, R-Ind.), H.R. 3764 (Rep. Greg Gianforte, R-Mont.), H.R. 5613 (Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Kan.), H.R. 6077 (Rep. Tom Reed, R-N.Y.), and H.R. 577 (Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev.).

H.R. 6302, the Cormorant Control Act, enacts as law certain regulations relating to the taking of double-crested cormorants. 

“Livelihoods and local economies are put in jeopardy when federal and state wildlife managers are prohibited from effectively managing species. This bill helps restore an ecological balance that hasn’t existed in the Great Lakes region for quite some time. I’m thankful for Rep. Bergman’s willingness to tackle this issue and for hosting a recent informative field hearing. I look forward to continuing our work together to move this bill through Congress,” Chairman Rob Bishop (R-Utah) said.

H.R. 577, designates a peak in the State of Nevada as Maude Frazier Mountain.

H.R. 1482, authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to maintain or replace certain facilities and structures for commercial recreation services at Smith Gulch in Idaho, and for other purposes.

H.R. 3764, the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians Restoration Act of 2017, extends the Federal recognition to the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana. 

H.R. 5613, the Quindaro Townsite National Historic Landmark Act, designates the Quindaro Townsite in Kansas City, Kansas, as a National Historic Landmark.

H.R. 6077, the National Comedy Center Recognition Act, recognizes the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, New York.
