Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act (H.R. 2728)


WASHINGTON, D.C., July 31, 2013 -

This bipartisan legislation would protect American jobs and American energy production by limiting the Obama Administration’s ability to impose duplicative federal regulations on hydraulic fracturing on federal lands.

Lowenthal Amendment 011 – Unnecessary and Duplicative Federal Regulations (Failed 13-22. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment would stand in the way of increased energy production by putting in place burdensome and duplicative Federal regulations on top of existing state hydraulic fracturing regulations.

Mullin Amendment 001 – Protecting the Rights of Sovereign Tribal Nations (Passed 24-13. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment would protect the sovereignty of native tribal nations by keeping the Federal government from imposing additional regulations on tribal lands.

Cartwright Amendment 035 – Unnecessary and Duplicative Federal Regulations on Well Safety (Failed 14-22. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment would stand in the way of increased energy production by putting in place burdensome and duplicative Federal regulations on top of existing state fracking regulations that regulate well safety.

Cartwright Amendment 036 – Unnecessary and Duplicative Federal Regulations (Failed 13-24. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment would slow down energy production by adding another layer of bureaucracy in duplicating existing federal law place when it comes to where energy development can occur.
