Today, Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) and U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.) spoke on the House floor, highlighting H.R. 1225, the Restore Our Parks and Public Lands Act, garnering over 300 cosponsors. In the 116th Congress, there are only ten bills that have garnered the same level of broad, bipartisan support as the Restore Our Parks and Public Lands Act, six of which have already passed the House. With H.R. 1225 in a league of its own, Bishop and Kilmer urged House consideration and passage of the measure.
“I am very happy this bill now has 300 cosponsors here in the House… that is the largest number of cosponsors on a bill that has come from the Natural Resources Committee. There has only been ten other bills [this Congress] that have as much cosponsors here in the House… this is an idea whose time has actually come.”
“Passing this legislation would establish a long term investment in our parks… with 300 members of the House of Representatives supporting this legislation it is crystal clear… my hope is to get this done.” – U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.)
