On March 2, 2015, Chairman Rob Bishop joins the Washington Journal on C-SPAN to discuss funding the Department of Homeland Security, federal lands, and energy production. “We have turned into an economic giant in the United States. We’ve already surpassed Russia and Saudi Arabia in the amount of energy we produce, but it’s all being produced on state and private property," stated Chairman Bishop. "If we really want to transfer, to become a leader in the world so we can help our allies and not be bullied by OPEC, we have to produce what is available on federal lands and off-shore and that’s what this administration is not doing…The bottom line is the administration in the few leases they allow are bound to be unacceptable by the industry or unwanted by the industry or they’re bound to be sued, they’re bound for litigation…This administration spends most of the time taking issues and opportunities off the table on federal lands. And once again, if we want to develop as a nation, we’ve got to develop off-shore and federal property and federal development. And it can be done while preserving the environment at the same time.
