On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3964, the Sacramento - San Joaquin Valley Emergency Water Delivery Act, with a bipartisan vote of 229-191. This legislation, sponsored by the entire Republican California delegation, addresses the emergency drought in California by helping to restore some water supplies.
Farmers and communities in California’s San Joaquin Valley have experienced years of man-made droughts caused by federal regulations and environmental lawsuits that have diverted water supplies. This has caused thousands of acres of fertile farmland to dry up, left thousands of people out of work, and threatened our Nation’s food supply. The House has taken action and the people of California are now waiting on the Senate to help provide relief to this crisis. ### |
