The bill would authorize a land exchange to open up the largest copper mine in North America and protect environmentally sensitive land. This bipartisan legislation would create nearly 3,700 jobs, provide billions in tax revenue, generate over $60 billion in economic activity, and strengthen our national security by developing our own U.S. copper resources.

Gosar Amendment #1 – Technical Amendment – (Agreed to by Voice Vote)
This amendment changes the year on the legislation from 2011 to 2013 and other technical edits.

Defazio Amendment .001– Royalty Payments – (Failed 16 -24. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment mandates as a condition of the land exchange a royalty payment of 12.5% be paid each year to the Department of the Interior and all funds from this royalty will be available for abandoned hardrock mine lands reclamation.

Napolitano Amendment .002– (Failed 18-23. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment mandates that nothing in the bill should change of affect any other provision of law protecting water quality and availability.

Grijalva Amendment .036 – Native American Site Exemption- (Failed 18-22. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment mandates that the area known as Apache Leap or any other Native American sacred or cultural site as identified by the Interior Secretary and all affected Indian tribes be excluded from the land transfer.

Grijalva Amendment .037 – (Failed by Voice Vote)
This amendment requires Resolution Copper to make a mining plan for conveyed federal lands to support local workforce in Superior, AZ.

Grijalva Amendment .040– NEPA Review- (Failed 17-23. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment mandates completion of an environmental review regarding the land exchange, proposed mine and mine plan prior to the land exchange.

Cardenas Amendment .003– Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute (Failed 18-22. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment requires government to government consultations with Indian Tribes prior to the land exchange.
