House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics released their April jobs report:
“While this new jobs report is good news for those Americans who were lucky enough to find work last month, there are still millions of Americans who are looking for a job and even worse, millions who have stopped looking altogether. A lower than expected GDP combined with high gasoline prices have made it difficult for small businesses and job creators to find room in their budget to hire more employees. The Obama Administration’s answer to our still soaring unemployment rate is tax increases on job creators and more government regulation and red tape that stifle economic growth. House Republicans support lower taxes and fewer regulations that will encourage business development and create jobs. Natural Resources Republicans have guided multiple energy bills through the House that will help lower gasoline prices, create over one million jobs, and add billions to the federal treasury. Unfortunately, the Democrat controlled Senate has refused to take up those bills and help American families get back to work.” ### |
