RE: Natural Resources Committee Recommendations to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction

To ensure that all Committee Members are able to participate in making "recommendations for changes in law to reduce the deficit" to the Joint Select Committee to assist it in achieving its goal "to reduce the deficit by at least $1,500,000,000,000 over the period of fiscal years 2012 to 2021" as provided for in Public Law 112-25, Chairman Hastings has chosen to adopt an open process similar to the transmission of "views and estimates" to the Budget Committee on matters under our jurisdiction. This provides the Majority, the Minority and individual Members an opportunity to submit their recommendations to the Joint Select Committee.
