The Hudson River Valley Special Resource Study Act would direct the National Park Service to conduct a study of the Hudson River Valley to determine whether or not it meets the suitability and feasibility criteria to become a National Park.  The study area would follow approximately 140 miles of the Hudson River and include each of the twelve counties that abut the river.  The size of this particular study could make the cost more significant than a typical study of this nature.

Bishop (R-UT) Amendment #1– Additions to Hudson River Valley Study (View Roll Call Vote)
The Bishop amendment adds to the study to determine the effect on commercial and recreational activities, as well as the ability of State and local authorities to manage those activities if the area outlined in the bill is designated as a National Park.  Additionally, the amendment asks the study to identify any authorities that will compel or permit the Interior Department to influence local land use decisions (such as zoning) or place restrictions on non-federal land if the area is designated as a National Park.
