House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Doc Hastings (WA -04) joined other House Republicans today in announcing a new group tasked with developing solutions to address the issues facing Rural America. The Rural America Solutions Group will focus on solutions that create jobs and economic opportunities as well as address the unique challenges rural communities face. Hastings will co-chair the group with Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Frank Lucas (OK-3) and Small Business Committee Ranking Member Sam Graves (MO-6).
“Many people in rural communities across our country are struggling economically because of excessive government actions, including those that prohibit or discourage the responsible use of our natural resources,” said Hastings. “Republicans share rural Americans’ concerns and will be strong advocates on their behalf. I’m honored to be a part of the new Rural Solutions Working Group that will encourage and develop effective solutions to specific problems currently facing rural communities. Through the smart and efficient use of our public lands, water, minerals, timber and energy resources, we can both protect our environment and create new jobs.” Six members of the House Natural Resources Committee will also serve on the Rural America Solutions Group, including:
