Lease Sale Notices a Win for American Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 7, 2025 | Committee Press Office (202-225-2761)

Today, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced two upcoming lease sales in the Gulf of America and Alaska’s Cook Inlet. House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) issued the following statement in response:

“The upcoming lease sales announced by the Trump administration, and required by the Working Families Tax Cuts law, will boost American energy production, create thousands of American jobs, and lower energy costs for American families. Republican members of the Resources Committee are committed to working with President Trump to unleash American resources and make energy in America more affordable and reliable.”

Background

These are the first announced lease sales as required under the House Committee on Natural Resources portion of H.R. 1, the Working Families Tax Cuts law (WFTC), which passed in July 2025. The WFTC provides for robust onshore and offshore oil, gas, and coal leasing nationwide to incentivize domestic energy production and lower energy costs.
