Today, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced new coal leasing opportunities on 13.1 million acres of federal land. These opportunities were made possible by the Natural Resources Title of H.R. 1, the Working Families Tax Cut Law. House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) issued the following statement in response: "By unlocking American coal resources, the supply of affordable and reliable energy will increase alongside demand, and rural communities will prosper from the good-paying jobs created. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Burgum for acting quickly and decisively to implement the Working Families Tax Cut Law to increase coal leasing opportunities, lower energy prices and create American jobs.” |
