Today, the Subcommittee on Federal Lands held an oversight hearing on restoring multiple use land management principles that will revitalize and support America's rural economies and western communities. Subcommittee Chairman Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) issued the following statement in response: "For our first Federal Lands Subcommittee hearing of the 119th Congress, I find it crucial that we reaffirm our support for rural America and commitment to restoring multiple use land management principles. House Republicans have a lot to do to course correct where President Biden left the state of our federal lands, and I look forward to beginning that important work." Background President Trump and Committee Republicans are working to restore commonsense land management through multiple use principles and reverse the Biden administration’s heavy-handed, preservationist policies of the past. The much-needed change brought by President Trump and House Republicans will swiftly relieve and benefit millions of struggling Americans, whether they live and work in growing urban centers or close-knit rural communities. With hundreds of millions of acres under federal control, especially in the West, many Americans depend on access to federal land for energy and mineral development, recreational activity, livestock grazing, timber production and more. Restoring multiple use benefits rural communities, improves forest health, will help lower housing and rental costs and energy process for American families. Today's hearing included witnesses from Western communities and experts on land use and management. Members learned from these experts and heard first-hand accounts about the benefits of returning to multiple use. To learn more, click here. |
