Today, House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) announced the subcommittee vice chairs for the 119th Congress.

Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources

Vice Chairman Nick Begich (R-Alaska)

"I want to thank Chairman Bruce Westerman for the appointment and the opportunity to serve as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee for Energy and Mineral Resources. I consider this appointment a tremendous honor and an important responsibility, specifically for the state of Alaska, which holds some of the richest energy and mineral resources in the world. Unlocking Alaska’s resources is crucial for creating jobs, driving economic growth, and strengthening America’s energy security. As Vice Chair, I am ready to get to work advocating for policies that encourage investment, streamline regulations, and support the development of Alaska’s vast resources. By harnessing Alaska’s potential, we will put America on a path to reestablishing the United States as a clear leader in energy and mineral production and the downstream manufacturing that results from these industries."

Subcommittee on Federal Lands

Vice Chairman Mike Kennedy (R-Utah)

"I am grateful to be appointed Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Lands, in addition to serving on the Subcommittee on Indians and Insular Affairs. Utah is renowned for its breathtaking national parks and its profound Native American heritage. I am committed to ensuring that the federal government does not overstep its bounds and that lands in Utah remain open for public use and enjoyment."

Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs

Vice Chairwoman Amata Coleman Radewagen (R-American Samoa)

"I appreciate the opportunity to work with Chairman Westerman and my colleagues on this committee once again. I will continue efforts to strengthen American Samoa, and support our territory, including committee oversight of Insular Affairs, and the federal role in ocean and fishing."

Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

Vice Chairwoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.)

"The responsible management of water, public lands, and our valuable natural resources is critical to returning our country to prosperity and ensuring states like Colorado can thrive in the near future and over the course of the next generation. I look forward to working with Chairman Westerman and all of my colleagues on Natural Resources this Congress to continue fighting for common-sense policies on water, energy development, and public land use."

Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries

Vice Chairman Mike Ezell (R-Miss.)

"I thank Chairman Westerman for his confidence in me. I am honored to be selected as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries, in addition to serving as a member of the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee on the House Natural Resources Committee. With sixty-two miles of scenic shoreline, coastal Mississippi is rich in ground-water resources, aquaculture, and commercial and recreational opportunity. From the coastline, to the Pinebelt, our region is a vital hub for energy production, natural resources, and abundant wildlife, supporting both the livelihoods of hardworking families and the health of our ecosystems. The task of streamlining burdensome federal government regulatory processes is great, but I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance the energy resurgence we began under President Trump and the Committee’s leadership. Together, we will unlock the full potential of American energy and natural resources, drive economic growth, create jobs, and secure a sustainable future for generations to come. For South Mississippi and all of America, these issues are of critical importance."
