The 100 Day Mark

Tomorrow, July 18th, marks 100 days since the House passed the EXPLORE Act

  • NFPL Subcommittee
It's been nearly 100 days since the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act, and it's time to get this important bill through the Senate and to the president's desk. Join us tomorrow by posting your support for the bill on social media!

More than 250 outdoor recreation businesses and organizations recently called on the Senate to pass the EXPLORE Act. In part, they wrote

"The EXPLORE Act would support rural economies, communities, and our American quality of life. It streamlines efficiencies and updates processes that are critical to 5 million American jobs and over half of all Americans who get outdoors. This bipartisan legislation would appropriately meet the increased demand for access to the outdoors while also protecting public lands and waters for future use."

Stacy Bare, an Army veteran, wrote how the legislation supports and recognizes the therapeutic benefits of outdoor recreation for military veterans by providing fee-free recreation passes and improving accessibility on trails.

Sasha DiGuillian, a professional rock climber, shared in her testimony before the House Committee on Natural Resources how EXPLORE will ensure safe and sustainable access for climbers and other recreators on federal lands.

The EXPLORE Act will improve the experiences and livelihoods of all Americans who enjoy the outdoors, expanding access to our public lands and waters, and ensuring future generations can visit the same iconic landscapes we know and love today.

Join us on tomorrow, July 18th to mark 100 days since the legislation's passage in the House by posting your support and urging the Senate to pass EXPLORE and get the bill across the finish line.
