Today, the House Committee on Natural Resources passed a pair of bills upholding unfulfilled promises made by the federal government benefitting Utah comminutes: H.R. 2582 (Rep. Mia Love, R-UT), the “Confirming State Land Grants for Education Act,” and H.R. 2423 (Rep. Chris Stewart, R-UT), the “Washington County, Utah, Public Lands Management Implementation Act.”

“Both of these bills hold the federal government accountable for unfulfilled promises made decades ago to local communities in Utah,” Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) said. “Regrettably, it often requires an act of Congress to compel the federal government to do the right thing, and that’s exactly what these bills do. I commend Reps. Love and Stewart on their dedication to Utah communities and I thank my colleagues for their support of these important bills.”

“H.R. 2582 resolves a longstanding technical issue and would help provide Utah’s institutions with the resources students need,” Rep. Love stated. “I’m pleased to see this important legislation advance, and appreciate the work of the committee members in moving it forward with bipartisan support. This is a win for Utah.”

“[H.R. 2423] is a big win for my constituents in Washington County. This bill will finally allow for further transportation development to accommodate growth in one of the fastest growing areas in the nation.
