Today, the Senate failed to advance H.J. Res. 36 by a vote of 49-51. The joint resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) would repeal the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) rule on methane emissions from oil and gas operations on Federal and Indian land. Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) issued the following statement: “The Senate was just one vote shy of disposing of a rule that will unnecessarily harm western economies, bankrupt countless small businesses and further diminish state budgets and critical school funding. This is a win for the radical environmental left and the ever-expanding and lawless federal regulatory establishment. The Committee looks forward to partnering with the Department of the Interior to address the most egregious and harmful provisions of this rule and mitigate the harm wrought upon our states.” |
