Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on two distinct visions for America’s energy future: 1) H.R. 6168, “President Obama’s Proposed 2012-2017 Offshore Drilling Lease Sale Plan Act”, which locks-away 85 percent of America’s offshore from energy production and reimposes the pre-2008 offshore moratoria, or 2) H.R. 6082, the “Congressional Replacement of President Obama’s Energy-Restricting and Job-Limiting Offshore Drilling Plan”, an environmentally-responsible drill-smart plan that that moves forward with lease in new areas containing the greatest known oil and natural gas resources to create tens of thousands of new jobs and lessen America’s dangerous dependence on foreign oil.

With these two distinct votes, every Member of Congress will have the opportunity to actively support or reject President Obama’s no-new-jobs, no-new-energy plan and separately vote on replacing it with a responsible, robust offshore energy plan that puts Americans back to work and helps grow the economy.

“Tomorrow’s vote is a clear choice between President Obama’s plan that blocks access to 85 percent of our offshore energy resources or the bipartisan plan that embraces new American energy production to create jobs and lessen our dangerous dependence on foreign oil,” said House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings. ”I believe it’s clear that the American people are in favor of more jobs, more American energy and less of President Obama’s empty energy rhetoric.”
