Chairman Hastings Statement on November Jobs Report

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) released the following statement on the November jobs report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“At a time when the American people have suffered under at least a 9 percent unemployment rate for 33 months, any job creation is positive and a step in the right direction. While any job is a good job for Americans who are out of work; long-term joblessness is at a record high 40.9 weeks and I am afraid many of the jobs created in November are short-term, seasonal jobs. Americans need jobs they can count on for the next generation, which is why the House of Representatives has passed multiple Natural Resources Committee bills that will create over a million long-term, good paying jobs. These bills will lower America’s dependence on unfriendly Middle Eastern oil, strengthen the economy as well as put millions of Americans back to work. House Republicans will continue to pass pro-growth policies to help jump start our economy and uphold our commitment to block job destroying tax increases.”
