COMMITTEE ACTION: The Committee on Natural Resources met in an open markup session on Wednesday, July 22, 2010 and considered the following bills: H.R.2523 (Heinrich), To amend the Act titled "An Act to authorize the leasing of restricted Indian lands for public, religious, educational, recreational, residential, business, and other purposes requiring the grant of long-term leases", approved August 9, 1955, to provide for Indian tribes to enter into certain leases without prior express approval from the Secretary of the Interior. "HEARTH Act" An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Mr. Rahall was AGREED TO by voice vote. Favorably reported to the House of Representatives, as amended, by voice vote. H.R.4347 (Boren), To amend the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act to provide further self-governance by Indian tribes, and for other purposes. "Department of the Interior Tribal Self-Governance Act of 2009" An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Mr. Boren was AGREED TO by voice vote. H.R.5479 (Rahall), To amend the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 to provide for use of excess funds available under that Act to provide for certain benefits, and for other purposes.
