Hearings

The Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife will hold a joint legislative hearing.

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. (PST), the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife will hold a joint legislative hearing titled, “Oil and Gas Development in California: The Need to Protect Public Health and the Environment.” This hearing will be held at Direct Relief, 6100 Becknell Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93117, on the following bills and other related measures:

  • H.R. 5303 (Rep. Panetta), To establish a moratorium on oil and gas leasing on public land on the Central Coast of California. “California Central Coast Conservation Act.”
  • H.R. 5936 (Rep. Carbajal), To require a new supplemental environmental impact statement for oil and gas development in the Bakersfield Field Office planning area, and for other purposes. “California’s Land Preservation and Protection Act.”
  • H.R. 6112 (Rep. Huffman), To require operators of oil and gas production facilities to take certain measures to protect drinking water, and for other purposes. “Oil and Water Don’t Mix Act of 2020.”
