COMMITTEE ACTION: The Committee on Natural Resources met in open markup session on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, and considered the following bills: H.R. 1018 (Rahall), To amend the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act to improve the management and long-term health of wild free-roaming horses and burros, and for other purposes. The Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 1018. An amendment in the nature of a substitute was offered by Mr. Grijalva. An amendment offered by Mr. Bishop #2 to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was NOT AGREED TO by a roll call vote of 13 yeas and 16 nays. An amendment offered by Mr. Chaffetz #1 to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was NOT AGREED TO by a roll call vote of 15 yeas and 17 nays. An amendment offered by Mr. Chaffetz #2 to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was AGREED TO by voice vote. An amendment offered by Mrs. Lummis #1 to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was NOT AGREED TO by voice vote. An amendment offered by Mrs. Lummis #2 (modified) to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was AGREED TO by voice vote. An amendment offered by Mrs. Lummis #4 (modified) to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was AGREED TO by voice vote. An amendment offered by Mrs. Lummis #5 to the amendment in the nature of a substitute was NOT AGREED TO by a roll call vote of 14 yeas and 20 nays. The amendment in the nature of a substitute, as amended, was AGREED TO by voice vote. Favorably reported to the House of Representatives, as amended, by a roll call vote of 21 Yeas and 14 nays. H.R. 689 (Herger), To interchange the administrative jurisdiction of certain Federal lands between the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, and for other purposes. The Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 689.
