Background:

This hearing, the fifth in a series of hearings this Congress on the Endangered Species Act, will focus on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s mega-settlements with the Center for Biological Diversity and Wildearth Guardians. Together, these settlements could increase the number of federal species listed by 50 percent – up to 700 additional species by 2016.
