William Pendley’s Unfitness to Lead the Bureau of Land Management
President Trump put William Pendley in charge of the Bureau of Land Management, and now he oversees 10 percent of land in the United States. He’s anti-#PublicLands, anti-Indigenous, pro-polluter and anti-regulation. He moved BLM headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Grand Junction, Colo. with little explanation to staff, leading to long-time experts leaving the agency. He doesn’t believe in protecting the environment and he’s unfit for office. He’s held his position for more than a year and recently signed an order giving himself an extension even though the Republican Senate majority won’t hold a hearing on his record or vote to confirm him. We’re hosting a livestream on Wednesday, September 9, at 12 p.m. Eastern time to hear from experts on the damage Pendley has done and the need to replace him. Join Chair Raúl M. Grijalva, Vice-Chair Deb Haaland and Rep. Jamie Raskin from the House Oversight and Reform Committee as we provide the accountability the Senate won’t.
