Reducing Spending and Protecting our Economic Future
Congress must take action to reduce spending because our nation’s debt is putting the United States' economic future at risk. It is costing jobs and burdening future generations with higher taxes.
The Natural Resources Committee will set priorities and consider whether new spending on a program is so vital that we should further indebt ourselves and our children to China and other foreign countries.
Republicans have an overall plan to cut spending to 2008 levels - before the bailouts, takeovers and stimulus spending. The Natural Resources Committee will take a hard look at all the agencies and programs under our jurisdiction and identify ways to reduce spending and cap future spending.
