North American Wetlands Conservation Extension Act of 2013 (H.R. 2208)

Full Committee Markup April 9, 2014

Reporting H.R. 2208 Out of Committee (Approved by Voice Vote)
This bill would extend the existing North American Wetlands Conservation program for an additional five years. Since its enactment nearly fifteen years ago, the North American Wetlands Conservation Program has acquired, conserved, enhanced, protected and restored nearly 30 million acres of wetlands in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Hastings of Washington Amendment #1 (Approved by Voice Vote)
This amendment would protect taxpayers by limiting the amount of appropriations to this program while requiring an annual audit of funds appropriated to this program.

Bordallo.001 Amendment to Hastings #1 Amendment (Failed 14-22. View Roll Call Vote)
This amendment would further risk taxpayer dollars by allowing the federal government to acquire more property which will only raise costs for taxpayers rather than allowing the federal government to utilize conservation easements that provide a greater return on taxpayer investment.
