Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources
Oversight Hearing on:
Member Statements:The Honorable Doug Lamborn Witnesses and Testimony:PANEL I Mr. A. Lynn Jackson Background:This hearing will focus on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) expanding regulatory reach and over regulation of energy production on federal land. Since taking office, the Obama Administration has made oil and natural gas development on federal lands so burdensome and uncertain that companies continue to avoid federal land for development. Those companies that do develop on federal land are subject to multiple regulatory hurdles, permit approval delays, and increasingly duplicative and burdensome regulations. The BLM continues to withdraw and defer land from oil and gas leasing, and write and rewrite Resource Management Plans that reduce the amount of land available to oil and gas leasing.
