Hastings Sets Markup on Energy Jobs and Revenue Portion of American Energy Infrastructure & Jobs Act

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) today announced that the Natural Resources Committee will hold a markup on Wednesday, February 1st that will include the energy portion of the American Energy & Infrastructure Jobs Act, legislation to link new American energy production with high-priority infrastructure projects.

“Expanding access to America’s abundant offshore and onshore energy resources will create millions of new American jobs, lower energy prices and generate new revenue to help pay for infrastructure improvements. When new energy resources are developed, we’ll need updated infrastructure to bring it to market. This creates a link that will allow for both American energy jobs and American infrastructure jobs to be created simultaneously,” said Chairman Hastings.

“The energy portion of the American Energy Infrastructure & Jobs Act will focus on removing government roadblocks and barriers that stand in the way of U.S. energy production. We’ll open new areas in the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to offshore drilling, open less than three percent of ANWR to new oil and natural gas production, and help expand the development of our oil shale resources. These proactive measures represent a significant opportunity for Congress to clearly demonstrate a commitment to developing American energy resources and supporting American energy jobs.”

The markup will be held at 10 AM in 1324 Longworth House Office Building.
