BACKGROUND:

Home to the Washington Monument, the World War II and Vietnam Veterans Memorials, and the Smithsonian Museums, the National Mall is America’s front yard. Each year Congress must consider potential changes and additions to the Mall and deliberate how each proposal could affect this important resource and its finite capacity. This hearing will provide an opportunity to discuss a broader prospective on the future of this historic area.
