BACKGROUND:

The Interior Department will complete its plan for reorganization of the agency formerly known as the Minerals Management Service (MMS) by October 1, 2011. This hearing will review the Administration’s plans and learn what specific changes are being made to improve safety, accountability and efficiency. The hearing will help the Committee determine what may need to be addressed in potential legislation and examine areas for improvement.
